One of hip-hop’s first big documentaries Rhyme & Reason, in production of “Miramax” was released in 1997, created by the film maker Peter Spirer.  It covers pretty much of rap’s early rise to prominence, how rap become a major cultural voice, exploring the music’s history and it’s controversial imagery through 80 interviews with some of the most popular ‘90s’ hit makers, including Da Brat, E-40, Method Man, The Notorious B.I.G., Lauryn Hill, Nas, Q-Tip, The Wu-Tang Clan, Ice-T, Dr.Dre and many others.
