Colombian Street Art

Street Art in Columbia is fascinating, most of all because the paintings are actually enhancing the areas where they are drawn. They gave life to gray and concrete streets and buildings! They also reveal the psyche of a young generation eager to participate in their own way in the cultural, intellectual & political debate of a country with a troubled history.

Bogota claims to be “The Capital of Street Art of the World”. And Street Art there is ubiquitous and particularly politically engaged. But other Colombian cities like Medellin or the very touristy Cartagena de Indias (at least the more gypsy neighborhood of Getsemani) are not left behind…
