Beyond Walls: Paris 2019 is a 600-meter-long, biodegradable work of graffiti art to mark World Refugee Day, by French artists Saype.

For the launch of his “Beyond Walls” project, Saype chose an emblematic place: Champ de Mars in Paris. Dominated by one of the most visited monuments in the world, the Eiffel Tower, this project marks the beginning of a long adventure for the artist and his work.

Saype’s “Beyond Walls” project is a tribute to the NGO SOS Méditerranée. The NGO helped rescue around 30,000 people in the Mediterranean Sea between 2016 and the end of 2018. Saype wants to change public opinion about refugees with his work:

We’ve been ruined by visual pollution. I feel that people don’t look around anymore. I need something that brought their attention back to what matters.
